Interesting photos from scanning

Scanning in these photos I have got to see so much in these different locations- the architecture, the culture, and the arts. I just found these photos to be very interesting and so different from anything I have ever seen.

This was a horse race or something like that. He said that this event was in the last James Bond film!

xingu river

I had the pleasure of meeting Alfrado. He is lifeguard at a local beach where we swim. We started talking, and he was telling me about his home land -Brazil- and about his project that he wanted to start. There is large river down there called the Xingu River that is about to be destroyed from companies building large damns on it- leading to the native people getting their homes destroyed. He has felt that it is his obligation to bring awareness to this. So he is going to go down there and paddle board to raise money-stopping at the villages. I wont go into too much details now about it , because me and the boys ended up helping him ...we took alot of footage and John did the video editing. The day that him and I talked- he had nothing done.. he now has a video- we put up a blog (which doesnt have much on it), he has a logo and sponsors. It was really spectacular being able to help Alfrado fulfill his dreams.

Website sit in

I had the privledge to sit in on a meeting with Tom about building websites. He is wanting to put up a website for one of his friends and wanted the website to be top-notch so he found the best designer on the island. It actually was a team of a couple. His wife is the one that does all the encoding and he designs it. It was really interesting listening in on it - how complex website building can be was beyond me. It taught me that I need to learn Flash.... its a must when it comes to website building. Also that the way it is encoded makes all the difference , like how fast it runs, depending if it is a certain coding it makes it easy for the client to interchange pictures easier-if it isnt in that coding than the clients has to go back to the encoder to do it. There is just so much that isnt seen and for a good website it takes ALOT of time and people that really know what they are doing. I did end up talking with Ben. He is local fine artist that is pretty well known. I ended up looking at his artwork with him on his website and it was amazing! I really like his style- it was funny because he does stuff that I really like doing- I wanted to do an all white color schemed painting and he did it using collages, layering and textures- the same stuff i wanted to do. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him about his work and how he got to the point where he has and all the different mediums he has used and what he works with now. Very inspiring. You can also see more work at his website www.benkikuyama.com

I think this art is pretty cool!

The Jungle to Jungle girls put on a fundraiser party to raise money for their trip to borneo. They asked us to help them and be their bartenders. No- there was no alcohol... we sold bottled water, fresh coconuts and redbulls. It was a really fun time- it really interesting to see all of the hard work that they had put in for the past month come to life and learning what they did to actually make the money that they needed. Seeing how many groups of people they went to asking for money.I have learned here that nothing is too big to ask for. Ask and you shall receive. Tom went into Sony to ask for 6 projectors for one of his art pieces and they ended up giving those to him! Most people would never have asked.

Deb Greene

I have had the pleasure of being around Deb Greene. She is Michelle's (Tom's wife) good friend from L.A. She used to own her own art gallery called Epoxy. I kinda picked her brain as to how she started it. She was working these kids that did graffiti and she was looking around town for a wall. She was driving around and looked over and saw this building and all she saw in it was artwork. So thats when she decided to open the gallery. She than figured out all the funding and opened it! I asked her how she chose the artwork or even find it.... She said that she did ALOt of research in the beginning but than soon after the artist found her. After the economy wasnt doing so well she decided to start another buisness called Epoxy Green. This is basically like a "home depot" only everything in it is green (earth friendly stuff). She now is expanding even more and is giving me the oppertunity to do the logo! She is so fun, and I love being around her because she is always thinking outside the box with new business ideas.
